Hi Dolleys,
It's hard to believe that we are already talking about OCTOBER! Where does the time go?
Our program chairs have planned an awesome program for Friday, October 1st.
We are set up for a visit to Brunswick Town and have a Tour arranged for us at 10:00 am.
Our tour will include: the small museum, walk around remnants of the town, and a walk (if desired) along the river. The tour should last approximately from 10:00 to 11:30am.
Be sure to:
* bring face masks
* wear comfy shoes
If you wish to carpool, please meet at SJCC parking at 9:15am in order to leave at 9:30am. If you are planning to carpool, please notify Teresa Miller or Jan Brown (see emails below) so we’ll know to expect you. Thanks!
Brunswick Town is located at
8884 St Philips Rd. SE
Winnabow, NC 28479

For those of you not familiar with Brunswick Town, the website describes it below:
A major pre-Revolutionary port on North Carolina's Cape Fear River, Brunswick was razed by British troops in 1776 and never rebuilt. During the Civil War, Fort Anderson was constructed atop the old village site, and served as part of the Cape Fear River defenses below Wilmington before the fall of the Confederacy. Colonial foundations dot the present-day tour trail, which crosses the earthworks of the Confederate fort.
It is so interesting to learn about where we live, and this is a perfect "boots on the ground" experience to understand our local history! Hope you are able to enjoy this fascinating Dolleys meeting!
Lynn
